I can't say enough about Miami, it was
extremely nice, and pleasurable is not the word for our
experience. It was delightfully outstanding. Glad to be home
though, and it's good to feel so refreshed and ready to go
"full steam" ahead again.
Our time in Miami and Orlando was real cool,
we really didn't do any real partying, but we did "lime" a
whole lot. Of course we did the regular "Mangos"
in South Beach and enjoyed all the different Mojitos, and on
this trip we especially enjoyed the many restaurants and
the "liming" at the all night hotspots in Coconut Grove
(where we stayed). The crawling in bed at 5:00 am each
morning was amusing! The beaches were great (as usual),
and we completely enjoyed the miles and miles of walking on the
One place we do want to mention we had lots of
fun at is the 400 Club in South Beach . That was a nice
experience, so many beautiful and trendy looking people, and the
DJs kept the crowd "rocking". "J"
thanks for the special treatment and hospitality, and thanks to
Rob for making sure we were cool!
"J" and all his friends each and every Friday at the
400 Club on Fifth Street in South Beach. You must get
there early to beat the crowd, because the line to enter is a
"killer". The only word I can think about to
describe this weekly event is "HOT", it is indeed
As for the Carnivals, surprisingly we missed
Miami's carnival. I had insisted on purchasing a new
memory card for the camera to capture the sites from the street
parade, so we stopped in Best Buy and got caught up
the time we left and got to Miami's Carnival around 3:30-4:00pm,
the street parade was finished. We had intended on
entering the venue (Bicentennial Park), but due to the large
crowds that were trying to enter, we decided to head
to Ft. Lauderdale (Broward) Carnival. When we got
to Ft. Lauderdale there were a few bands on the parade route, so
we were able to captured them via video and some pics (which we
will share with you once I have an opportunity to download).
We had a commitment for dinner, so
we stayed until all the bands entered the park and left in order
for us to attend dinner on time. We simply missed the
actual carnivals this year, which was a little disappointing.
However, it was nice seeing so many people from the Wash.
DC/Maryland areas enjoying themselves at the Broward Carnival.
It's also great that a city such
as Miami can have too Carnivals on the same day, and both were
were full of people. Indeed they both were very successful
events!!! Not to mention the "fetes" (parties) all
weekend long, they were "rammed" as well. I must
mention that it was impossible to get over to the Bayside Hut on
Friday! Wow...so many folks were trying.
If any of you attended, please share your
experience with us. We would love to hear your story and
even see your pictures.
The Mixx Productions Annual South Beach Last Lap Party was
GREAT! This was
held at the Rumba Place in Miami Beach, and I must congratulate
Andy and his crew, because this event was extremely
successful. Actually, it was nice witnessing how happy
Management were with the register tapes they were viewing every
hour. We had a wonderful time chilling and greeting
friends from the Washington/Maryland areas. To me the
support was outstanding...ent Andy? Of course DJ Smally
from Baltimore, kept us entertained, and so did DJ Shiloh from
DC. This was another 5:30 am crawling in bed, but this
time our heads were feeling real bad.
I can't say enough about Orlando, it was
absolutely wonderful, and the visiting and catching up with old
friends were nice.
Well, The Last Carnival of the Season takes
place this weekend...The Jacksonville
Florida Caribbean Carnival
Jacksonville, Florida Carnival is produced by COOJI, and is
being held this entire weekend. All the festivities began on Thursday, October
11th, and of course the climax is the Parade on October
13th. The fun continues and it cools down a bit with
it's last lap party on October 14th. There are lots of
events scheduled to take place and of course lots of
performers. Click the flyer above for details or scroll
down to our "Featured Events"
Los Angeles Carnival takes place this weekend as well. The
details can be found under our "Featured Events" below
and on our "Events Page".
We want to
send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of a member from
our community we lost recently - Ms. Judith Wiley. You may recall
in early August one of our local business - Crown Bakery held a
"Celebration of Life Fundraiser" for Ms. Wiley, which
was successful, but we lost Judith recently!!! We know
Judith is at peace, and we hope that her family and friends
forever hold dear the memories of her in their hearts and minds.
