that Senator Barack Obama will be one excellent Commander in
Chief… don’t you agree?
Well, we have 102 more days before Election Day to
make this possible.
certainly projected someone ready and capable to become the
Commander in Chief…a great President of this Superpower we
call America, because this week was very productive, as well as
full of successes and positivity, as he met with many of the
leaders in the Middle East and Europe.
By now you must be aware of
the Senator's visit to several countries in the Middle East and
Europe – He made stops in Kuwait (Camp Arifjan), Afghanistan
and met with Afghan President Hamid Karzai.
He also visited Iraq (Bagdad) and met with tribal leaders
- leaders of the so-called Awakening Council movement, US
troops, and met with Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and
President Jalal Talabani, where the Iraqis (particularly Prime
Minister al-Malaki) essentially endorsed Senator Obama’s
16-month withdrawal plan for U.S. Combat troops and asked for a
time-table of the withdrawal…he stated: “We are hoping in
2010 that troops will withdraw from Iraq.”
As you can imagine, this must have been an absolute
surprise, as well as disconcerting and embarrassing for the Bush
Administration, General David Patrias, US Chairman of the Joint
Chiefs of Staff Admiral Michael Mullen, and many in America.
Obama also met with King Abdullah of Jordan, and he traveled on
and met with Israel leaders and Palestine leaders. All 3
receptions were warm and very positive.
Thursday 7/24/08, he flew on to Germany and met with
German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Berlin.
He later addressed an enormous crowd in Berlin who were excited
and obviously pleased to see and listen to the Senator.
The Senator's address/speech to more than 200,000 people in
Berlin was outstanding. He
got the "rock star" treatment, and most importantly his
speech was absolutely fantastic. As he spoke to the large
cheering crowd at the “Victory Column” he stated: “Thank
you to the citizens of Berlin and to the people of Germany. Let
me thank Chancellor Merkel and Foreign Minister Steinmeier for
welcoming me earlier today. Thank you Mayor Wowereit, the Berlin
Senate, the police, and most of all thank you for this welcome.
I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before.
Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as
a citizen - a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow
citizen of the world. I know that I don't look like the
Americans who've previously spoken in this great city. The
journey that led me here is improbable”
that many in America are "up in arms" about this great
speech in Berlin, including Senator McCain. As I listen to
the various TV stations, many are reporting that he should not
have made his speech at the "Victory Column" a place
where only high officials and Presidents have made
speeches. Their comments are "he is not President,
only a Presidential Candidate", and he should not have
below to our “Newsflash Section” to read and view the
entire speech, and to see a very nice slideshow of Senator
Obama’s tour of the middle east and Europe.
Friday - 7/25/08 the Senator will stop in Paris, and on Saturday
- 7/26/08 he will visit London, where he plans to take some time
to meet with Ex British Prime Minister Tony Blair. I'm
sure he will receive more "rock star" treatment in
far, clearly this trip was excellent for the Senator and it gave
him an opportunity to meet, talk and actually discuss “face to
face” some important issues with
several important international leaders with whom he would have
to work with as President of the United States.
Rock On Obama!!!
this successful trip will help cease the pathetic talk from the
angry Conservatives, Independents and plain nasty talk show
hosts who despise Senator Obama, and despise the fact that he is
the Democratic Presidential Nominee. These past few months
listening to the constant evil and horrendous words from these
individuals about the Senator was absolutely dreadful.
However, as you know it's very important to listen to everyone's
point of view in order to learn and understand how folks feel,
and most importantly know what's going on in their minds.
So as much as I wanted to NOT listen and turn off the TV
Channels and Radio Stations, I simply couldn't, because it's
important for me to listen and learn about how many in America
feel about this Presidential Candidate.

listed several more historic incidents that took place during
this week in history. Please take the time to read and

thought provoking comments on these historical events.
Police Massacre - July 30, 1866. (Courtesy of
African-American Registry.com). The bloody events of
July 30, 1866, in New Orleans, in which white mobs and the
city's all-white police force killed some three dozen black
men and several white Republicans and injured hundreds
more. US Police shoot into an assembly of blacks outside
the Mechanics Institute in New Orleans, & a crowd of
whites then storm the hall. By the time federal troops
restore order, 38 are dead & 136 wounded — almost all of
them black. For additional reading click
Protest - July 28, 1917. (Courtesy of University of
The bloody riots of 1917 left the black community
feeling vulnerable (especially the East St. Louis, Illinois
riots). When the U.S. House of Representatives refused to
investigate the violence, the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) organized a mass
"Silent Protest Parade" down Fifth Avenue in New
York City to protest the riots, and pressure officials to stop
lynching and other violence toward/against black
Americans. On July 28, over 10,000 blacks marched
silently down Fifth Avenue in New York City to the beat of
muffled drums. On July 28 the (NAACP) staged a
silent parade , protesting the riot and other acts of violence
toward black Americans
Race Riot in Chester, PA - July 25-28, 1918 (3 blacks and 2
whites were killed.) and Race Riot in Philadelphia, PA - July

found very little details about these riots. However, please CLICK

Riots of 1919 - "The Red
Summer" Riots - July 27, 1919 in Chicago. This summer
was filled with a racial frenzy of clashes, massacres, and

I stated above this
week in politics was interesting and a bit exciting due to
Senator Barack Obama's trip to the Middle East. His
meetings with the leaders from the various countries in the
Middle East and Europe have been very warm, successful and impressive. He
absolutely looked and conducted himself in a Presidential manner
and articulated a future of success with America's foreign
policy. Below you will find video footage of the Senator's
speech in Berlin Germany to over 200,000 people, and a link to
read the text of this excellent
speech (courtesy of The Huffington Post and MSNBC). Additionally, you will find the

I must share a
beautiful piece written by one of Todd's cousins William Bell, IV - "Billy";
this piece was read by Billy at
their (Todd and Billy's) Granddad's funeral last week.
This absolutely touched many in the family, and which certainly
describes Grand Dad William E. Bell, Jr. - May he rest in
are here today to honor someone who had a great influence on my
life. He was a man who did things his way & that way
was one of great conviction. I will always remember how he would
talk about the military & how things were back in the day.
His life's span was 8 almost 9 decades & it was a very
successful one at that. He grew up in a time when the advantages
we have today were nonexistent. That's why his accomplishments
were so remarkable. He excelled in business while raising a
family in the process. His ideals & principles were that of
a winner his philosophies are timeless.
William Bell Jr. was a trail blazer he did things that
influenced others. From his business practices to the way that
he committed himself to the American legion. The bar was set
very high for anyone trying to follow in his footsteps. I know
because I wanted to be successful just like him. He was very
vocal about things that didn't sit well with him. When we talked
about current events he would speak about the plight of the
Palestinian people. He was always rooting for the underdog, he
spoke about how we have come so far as a race & how the
future is so bright. I know that he would be very happy to know
that so many people loved & appreciated him so much. I truly
feel that everyone here was touched by him in some kind of way.
I want everyone here to know that even though he is gone his
sprit will live forever.
& Principles: Of course everyone in here knows that he has
never purchased a foreign car. He believed in recycling & he
loved working in his garden. The main thing that he stood for
was toughness. The love he gave at times was tough love but it
was necessary to lead. His leadership was part of his legacy
something that he was a natural at. If anyone ever tells you
that you are acting like him please take it as a compliment. I
truly believe my grandfather William Bell, Jr had the blue print
to success. Grind everyday, stay positive, expect others to
contribute to the success of them selves & root for the
like to thank each & every one of you for attending this
service. I implore you to reach for your goals they are
obtainable if you believe in yourself. That is what he did &
if you are half as good as him you are a success. GOD BLESS YOU
to the many who have sent me e-mails in
response to my past E-Newsletters and lots of important
information to use for our future E-Newsletters. Most importantly, I thank you for your
encouraging words! So until next week... please enjoy this
